Perks for the Parents

This modern ski chalet with high ceilings and open plan living is a short drive from downtown Truckee, ski slopes and the north shore of Lake Tahoe. It sleeps 7 + 1. Parents will enjoy the proximity to the local ski resort, plus the many restaurants and shops of downtown Truckee that are within walking distance. The house is clean and bright with large windows and modern furniture. Lounge around with Apple TV and a fire, or explore the many attractions on the doorstep.

Why Kids Love it

Toddlers will like the toys and books at the chalet, while older kids will love playing on the sled in winter. The heady fun of the ski slopes are a 15-minute drive away from the house. There are 2 playgrounds, a skate park and the Truckee Community recreational Center with sports facilities nearby. The KidZone Museum, with hands-on exhibits, dress-up areas, and arts and craft rooms is a 5-minute drive. Babysitters are available on request. A travel crib, high chair, changing mat, baby monitor, and a stroller are at the property.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. All bookings incur a 12% tourism occupancy tax, included in the fees paid. There is an outside balcony directly accessible from the kids’ bedroom. The property operates a self-check-in with a keypad lock. The house has a ‘no shoe’ policy– slippers are available for guests but it is recommended that you bring your own. All bedrooms are equipped with Casper mattresses for extra comfort and a travel crib is available. Pets are not allowed. Parties and extra guests are forbidden. The owners have installed an exterior camera for security purposes and to ensure that rental policies are upheld. There is parking for up to 2 cars at the property (not on the street).

About the Location

The chalet is on Winter Creek Loop and is a 3-minute drive or 15-minute walk to downtown Truckee, Nevada County, California. Truckee is a historic logging town, which now has boutiques, art galleries and is a well-known foodie hot spot. The Northstar California Ski Resort is a 15-minute drive, while over the hill, 20-minute’s away, is Lake Tahoe’s north shore. The nearest airport is Truckee Tahoe Airport (10 minutes) or Reno-Tahoe International Airport (45 minutes).

Accommodation Details

The residence has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on 2 levels with stair gates. The open plan living/dining/kitchen space is on the upper level. It has a dining table seating up to 7 and a gas fire. The master kingsize bedroom with an ensuite bathroom is also on this floor. The other 2 bedrooms are on the lower level – 1 queensize room and 1 kids’ room with a twin over full bunkbed. There is a family bathroom with a tub on this floor. Outside there is a grassy front and back yard, gas barbecue and a large front balcony.

Style Notes

Mountain style. The house is modern and spacious. Many of the amenities are new and there are minimal personal items so that guests can feel as if the place is theirs. The large living space enjoys high ceilings and natural light and great views of the trees outside. Walls are hung with atmospheric art and statement pieces. We love the abundance use of natural wood outside and including the wooden beds, the leather butterfly chair, and the large balcony with views.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 15% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 15% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

We had a wonderful last minute stay at Winter Creek Loop Residence. It was so kid friendly (we have very young kids and it was very adapted to their needs), clean and so close to the park. We would definitely stay here again and Olivia is very prompt replying to any queries!
